Since fall 2021, she is teaching immigration, refugee and citizenship law at Queen’s University.

Mrs. Katharina Kontaxis, RCIC-IRB first studied law in Austria, Europe. Then, she immigrated to Canada. Upon completion of her Canadian post-secondary education, she worked in Vancouver, Montreal, Edmonton and Toronto. After 20 years of work experience in the legal field, she founded her own immigration consultancy – KIS Migration Inc. – in Edmonton, Alberta.

Her unique perspective on legal issues is based on her professional career in three languages: English, French and German. The broad exposure to different cultures and languages has provided her with extensive experience arguing complex matters on behalf of her customers.

She truly understands the subtle nuances of the ever-changing Canadian immigration and citizenship laws and policies. With the motto “clients-first” in mind, she provides timely and efficient quality services as a Canadian immigration consultant, instructor, and author.

Since 2018, she has written several articles on immigration law, citizenship law, legal research, writing and advocacy that were published at MyConsultant.ca and IMMeLegal. Furthermore, she offers her assistance as IMMeForum expert at the Canadian Association of Professional Immigration Consultants.

She also taught all courses of the Online Immigration Consultant Program at Herzing College in Toronto from 2018 to 2021. Then, she has lectured the Foundations of Canadian Immigration Law, Family Classes, Economic Classes and Practice Management courses of the Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law at Queen’s University, Faculty of Law since fall 2021. Additionally, she instructed CPD courses for Immigration Learning and Information Center from 2021 to 2023.

Simion’s professional background is diverse and enriched by his personal immigration journey as a former refugee claimant. Alongside his sales expertise, he brings valuable experience in information technology and information security working as a security professional. This technical foundation enhances his problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking in both marketing and client liaison functions.

Since co-founding KIS Migration in 2015 with his wife Katharina Kontaxis, Simion has been dedicated to offering accessible, culturally sensitive services in three languages: English, Romanian, and Hebrew. His leadership underscores the company’s core values of integrity, excellence, and simplicity in helping clients navigate the complexities of Canadian immigration.
