Spousal Sponsorship Changes Canada

If you landed on this page, you most likely did a Google search for Spousal Sponsorship Changes Canada. KIS Migration assists with your spouse’s journey to Canada while making the process easy.

On January 30, 2019, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) extended the Open Work Permit (OWP) Pilot Program for Spousal Sponsorship inside Canada until July 31, 2020.

Generally, IRCC aims to issue a new OWP to the sponsored spouse or partner between 4 to 5 months. Upon receipt of the work permit, the holder of an OWP may work for any Canadian employer. The OWP is valid for 2 years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.

See IRCC’s notice regarding the OWP Pilot Program for Spousal Sponsorship Changes in Canada.
